Weddings

At the risk of stereotyping, men are generally pretty easy to please. You meet their basic needs, and for the most part, they’re happy campers. Your wedding is no different. If you want to keep the male portion of your guest list happy, it isn’t really that tough. We talked to a few different guys and found out what makes them say, “Wow, that was an awesome party!” Here’s what we found out:

  1. No Need to Mail Save the Dates One of the greatest reasons to have a wedding website is that it can be a big budget saver. The cost of printing and mailing Save the Date cards, for instance, can be quite significant.  But, a countdown on your website can greet the guests-to-be when you invite them to view your website.
  2. Registry Information in One Place Make it easy on those who aren’t so close to you that they know what you need and what you like in your home. Registries are great, and your website will keep all of that information organized for those who need it.

If you are having a wine bar at your wedding, you will want to ensure that you have an adequate selection that will appeal to your guests.  That means having enough to supply the thirst of those individuals, as well as having the right variety to suit their tastes.  Of course, you are never going to please everyone, but if you keep the following factors in mind as you choose the wine that you will serve, you will likely find that the wine bar is a big success. Taste Test Ahead of Time Before you buy, be sure that you taste the varieties that you are considering.  If you aren’t much of a wine connoisseur, then ask your friends or family members to come over for a wine and cheese party.  That way, you can get various opinions on the bottles that you had been considering.  Ask others to bring a bottle of their favorite wines as well, so you can get an idea of what varieties the guests may like.

It is your wedding.  Let us say that again; it is YOUR wedding.  So, many of the supposed rules and regulations are nothing more than suggestions and guidelines.  Put them aside and make decisions based on your style, taste, and desires. Myth #1: You Must Wear White Did you know that the idea of the bride wearing white was based on nothing more than a beloved dress worn by a member of royalty many generations ago?  That is it.  Prior to that time, brides wore vibrant colors on their wedding days, so there is absolutely no reason why you should shy away from color, if that is what you prefer.

In the last blog post, we wrote a bit about the advantages of having a buffet at your wedding.  However, there are reasons why some avoid that style of meal on their big day.  So, it is only fair that we now mention some of the disadvantages. #1. Space Sucker. It’s true that, no matter how well you arrange it, the buffet table is going to claim a lot of real estate within the reception space.  You can move it away after the meal, but if the room is too small, it can be difficult for guests to get up from their tables and wind their way around the food table.  So, this decision really should factor in the shape and size of your venue.

There is a lot of talk about which is the best way to serve dinner at a wedding.  We have seen both sit-down dinners and buffets pulled off perfectly.  We’ve also seen both fall a little flat.  It really depends on the desires of the bride and groom.  As you debate which is best for your big day, consider these five advantages of a buffet dinner.
