Christian Wedding Vows

Lake Tahoe Weddings – Christian Wedding Vows

We are gathered her today to witness the coming together of two people, (bride’s name) and (groom’s name) whose hearts and spirits are entwined as one.  They now desire to profess before all the world their intention henceforth to walk the road of life together.

This marriage is an event in the lifetime of a love.  Love is always patient and kind, it is never jealous, love is never boastful or conceited, it is never rude or selfish, it does not take offense, and is not resentful.  Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth; it is always read to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.  Love does not come to an end.

The happiness of the one person in all the world whom you love best.  You are adding to your life not only the affection of each other, but also the companionship and blessing of a deep trust as well.  You are agreeing to share strength, responsibilities, and to share love.  What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined for life, to strengthen each other in all labor, to rest on each other in sorrow, to minister to each other in all pain?

We are gathered here , in the presence of god and of this company, so that ________ and ________ may be united in Holy Matrimony, we are here to celebrate and share in the glorious act that God is about to perform – the act by which He converts their love for one another into the holy and sacred estate of marriage.

This relationship is an honorable and sacred one, established by our creator and for the welfare and happiness of mankind, and approved by the apostle Paul as honorable among all men. It is designed to unite two sympathies and hopes into one, and it rests upon the mutual confidence and devotion of husband and wife.

May it be in extreme thoughtfulness and reverence, and in dependence upon divine guidance, that you enter into this holy and sacred estate of marriage.

Please repeat after me……

GROOM:  “I___________take you ____________to be my wedded wife, from this day forth. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer. I promise my love to you.”

BRIDE:  “,I ____________take you_____________ to be my wedded husband, from this day forth. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, I promise my love to you.”

The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual bond which unites two loyal hearts in endless love.  It is a seal of the vows (bride’s name) and (groom’s name) have made to one another.  Bless O god these rings that (bride’s name) and(groom’s name) who give them, and who wear them, may ever abide in thy peace.  Living together in unity, love and happiness for the rest of their lives.

Please repeat after me……

GROOM: “Bride’s name, I give you this ring as a symbol of our vows, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you.  With this ring I thee wed”

BRIDE: “Groom’s name, I give you this ring as a symbol of our vows, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you.  With this ring I thee wed”

Ladies and gentleman, let us bow our heads in prayer.

Our father, we come here today asking your blessing upon these two lives and this home being established. WE are thankful for the love we see here and even more for the love we feel from you. May we never take this love for granted.

We pray that your love will be a shield and stay for _______  and _______. When joy comes may they share it together, when sorrow threatens, may they beat it together. In gladness or in tears, in sunshine or in shadows, may they draw ever closer to each other and to you.

Grant them patience, gentleness, forbearance and understanding, and protect their home from those forces that would break it apart. We ask for health, long life , for the fulfillment of every good dream. May their love continue through life and finally be blended into eternal life. Give them such fulfillment and mutual affection that they may reach out in love and concern for others, and grant that all married persons who have witnessed these vows find their lives strengthened and their loyalties confirmed.

In Jesus’s name we pray,

Amen.

Because they have so affirmed in love and knowledge of the other, and in Jesus’s name I now pronounce you husband and wife.

You may kiss the bride.
