Follow This Advice to Get the Wedding Venue of Your Dreams

If you have recently become engaged, then you and your spouse-to-be are probably working on setting a date for the big day.  It is all very exciting in the beginning, and you undoubtedly want to be sure that you have the perfect backdrop when you say your ‘I Dos’.  Wedding venues can be a challenge.  They tend to book up fast, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get the location you want.  Consider these tips as you begin to plan your wedding day:

Call Early! Even if you think it may be too far in advance to book the venue for your wedding, it doesn’t hurt to call.  You may be surprised at how far in advance places make wedding reservations.  This is also an excellent opportunity to schedule a walkthrough, so you can see exactly where a wedding event would take place, can ask questions about what is included, and get a price quote.

Make a Day of It Be sure to see the place in person.  If you are going to do a destination wedding, you still want to be sure that the place fits your expectations.  While a professional planner is a great resource for much of the long-distance planning, you should never book a wedding venue site-unseen.  So, make a day (or a mini-vacation) of it.  It’ll be worth the expense in the end.

Know What You Want Not every bride is the same.  That is the beauty of being human.  We are all different and we all have different tastes.  When you are shopping around for the perfect venue, only take those people with you who will respect the decision of yourself and your future spouse.  You don’t want to be bullied into a venue that doesn’t fit with the vision that you have for your big day.

Don’t Strain the Budget Before you book a venue or make any big wedding-related purchases, you should know your budget.  Be sure that you aren’t killing the budget with the first purchase.  Although the venue is likely to be the biggest piece of the price puzzle, you still want to be sure that you are going to be able to afford everything else that goes into making your wedding day great.

Do Shop Around Although you don’t want to wait too long before booking, for fear of missing out on the perfect place, you should also take a look at a few different venues before settling on one.  If nothing else comes of it, at least you will know how the services offered at your choice venue compare to those at other locations.
